LACONIA- Barbara Elizabeth Philbrook, 95, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Barbara was born in Ashland on August 16, 1919 the daughter of Henry A. and Frances Lois (Preston) Smith. Barbara was a resident of Lexington, MA for 37 years and Laconia for over 50 years. She was a 1937 graduate of Laconia High School and from N.E.T.and T. During her working career she was a receptionist and secretary for First Bank of Meredith, Laconia Federal, Village Bank and most recently for Holy Trinity School and the Foster Grandparents Program for a total of 40 years.
Barbara was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church. She volunteered for LRGH Community Health and Hospice for 27 years and received the volunteer of the year award, LRGH Governors Award, Belknap County volunteer of the year and St. Francis Home Award.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband George H. Philbrook and a son John Patten. Barbara is survived by her daughter in law Sandra Patten of Londonderry; grandchildren David Patten and Christine Mills; great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 3:30 PM.
