David Francis Marcel of South Weymouth passed away on May 24 at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family. David was raised in Quincy, graduated from Quincy High School in 1956 then went on to join the Air Force. During his service he spent two years in Germany and two years in Italy where he met his wife of 55 years in Vicenza, Italy. He later went on to further his education at Newbury Junior College. Member of the Local 4, he started work at Duane Wrecking Company in Quincy and continued his career at Shaughnessy Crane Service. He worked seasonally for nine years at Hurley’s Boat Rental. An avid soccer fan, he loved watching AC Milan and all New England sports teams. He also enjoyed traveling with a special fondness for Italy and the Caribbean.
David was the beloved husband of Angela (Osca) Marcel of S. Weymouth, devoted father of David Marcel of S. Weymouth and Maria DePass and her husband Neville of Scituate. David was the son of the late Mary Ita (Boudrot) and Clovis Thomas Marcel. Loving brother to Thomas and Mary Marcel of Hanover, Richard and Barbara Marcel of Yarmouth, Joyce and Walter Hurley of Quincy, and Susan and Carl Schleiff of Scituate. Cherished grandfather of Cristina and Melanie Seibert and Savi DePass all of Scituate. David is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation for David on Friday, May 29th from 9-10:30AM at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian. Sq. S. Weymouth), MA 02190. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow the visitation at St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth at 11AM.
