Jean Marie Proia, (Pietroski) of Canton passed away May 21at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. Born and raised in Dorchester, Jean attended St. Matthews and Cardinal Cushing High School. The Proia family has lived in Canton for 37 years. Mrs. Proia was a Teacher’s Aide at the Mass Hospital School in Canton and she also worked with the Franciscan’s in Providence. Jean was an active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton for many years, where she stared a group for Gay and Lesbian Teenagers to integrate them into the church. Mrs. Proia was a member of the Board of Directors for Catholic Renewal in Waltham. Beloved wife of Attilio. Loving mother of Michael R. of Foxboro and Mark S. of San Francisco. Sister of Frank Pietroski of Norwell, Joseph Pietroski of Toronto, Kathleen Arancio of VA and Pauline Cavanaugh of Norwell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church Stoughton Wednesday morning at 11:00. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery.
