Evelyn (Lemieux) Hidenfelter, 97 of Centerville, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22 at Cape Regency Health Care Center, after her battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by members of her family.

She was born in Worcester on March 15, 1918 daughter of the late Winthrop Dalton Lemieux and Aldea Marie (Perron) (Lemieux) Griffin. She was also predeceased by her stepfather the late John Henry Griffin. Raised and living in Worcester, she graduated from Commerce High School in 1936 and worked at Mechanics Furniture Manufacturers for over 52 years. Evelyn was a founding member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and a former member of the Lady Elks of Worcester and the Barnstable Senior Center. She loved her retirement on Cape Cod, especially the ocean, but sorely missed her loving husband, Alfred Paul Hidenfelter who predeceased her in 1980. This amazing lady left us with many wonderful and cherished memories and put everyone else before herself. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Although she had numerous memories, one of her most cherished was her trip to Europe to visit her son and daughter- in- law, Ken and Kathy. Her trip included a visit to Italy where in Rome, she visited the Vatican and received a blessing from the Pope.

Evelyn leaves her four children, Alan of Centerville and his partner, AnnMarie Reed, Ronald of Yarmouthport and his wife, Christine, Kenneth of York, Pa. and his wife, Kathleen and Lynda Waitkus of West Boylston and her husband, Mark. She was a grandmother to her 12 adored grandchildren, Theresa, Michael, Stephen, Debbie, Ronald II, Bryan, Jennifer, Kevin, Keith, Kerri, Griffin and Troy. She also was the matriarch of 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
