Jennie M. (DeToma) Sardina, 87 of Weymouth, passed away on Tuesday May 19th.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Sardina, loving mother of Joanne Kokoliadis and her fiancé Kevin Whitley of Whitman, most cherished Nana of Richard Orleans and his wife Jeannine of Canton and Michael Kokoliadis of Whitman, sister and best friend of the late Yolanda R. Nicosia, sister of Angelo DeToma and his wife Jean of Holliston and Nicholas DeToma and his wife Gina of Milford, beloved godmother of Linda Ahronian of Holliston, loving aunt to many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.
She was born in Worcester on May 3, 1928 to the late Louis and Santa (Campanele) DeToma. Jennie lived in Dorchester until moving to Weymouth in 1954.She was a devoted wife of almost 65 years to her late husband, Joe. She often said her daughter and two grandsons were her entire world and with her generous manner always tried to make life easier for them. She was giving and loving and will be sadly missed by her entire family and all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed dancing, baking, cooking, crocheting, gardening, bingo and took trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Foxwoods Casino. She attended Dorchester High for Girls. She was employed at Pastene Co. and at Gilchrist’s in Boston. She was employed at South Shore Hospital from 1968 until she retired in 1990. During those 22 years, she worked her way up and became Manager of the Patients Accounts Dept.
A memorial service will be held in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman on Saturday May 30th at 11:30AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her celebration from 10:30-11:30AM.
