Claire (Barron) Garland, 87 of Methuen passed away on May 17, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. Claire was born in Lawrence on April 27, 1928 to the late Alcide and Elva Barron. Claire was raised and educated in Lawrence. She was a graduate of St. Anne’s High School. Claire worked for Western Electric where she was a dedicated employee for 32 years. Following her retirement from Western Electric, Claire enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
Claire was a long time communicant of St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen where she attended daily mass for many years. She enjoyed walking the Rockingham Mall for exercise with a close group of friends. She loved to travel to New York City for the weekend twice a year for shopping and to catch a play with her friend. She also enjoyed bowling on the Western Electric Bowling League.
Claire was the loving wife of the late Donald Garland with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Donna Garland of Dracut and Carol Fluet of Methuen. Claire was the beloved grandmother of Eric Fluet of Ridgewood, NJ and Amy Martocchio of Methuen. She was the cherished great grandmother of Megan Martocchio, Connor Fluet and Austin Fluet. Claire was predeceased by her sister Agnes Goulet and brother Wilder Barron.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
