Robert A. “Rob” Sumner, 51, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, May 21, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Ike Thomas and the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Rob was born October 5, 1963, in El Paso, Texas to Ralph J. Sumner and Nancy Markham Neal. He lived in the community most of his life and was a carpenter, working with his brother and nephew. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. He enjoyed playing paintball and loved to draw and carve wood. He was a member of Dorminy Mill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his companion, Sara Ann Beard of Fitzgerald; a son, Quinton Drake Harrell of Fitzgerald; parents, Ralph & Patsy Sumner and Nancy Markham Neal, all of Fitzgerald; siblings and their spouses: Daniel & Terri Sumner, Ralph K. Sumner, Tim Sumner & Tommi Lyn Duncan, David & Kathy Sumner, Debra & Larry Mobley, Eugene & Elaine Aycock, Jim & Beth Aycock, Teresa & Wallace Peacock, and Tammy & Scott Roberts, all of Fitzgerald and Ocilla; as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Dennis Sumner and a son, Jessie James Harrell.
