Obituary

Robert P. “Bob” Johnson age 84 of Brockton, died Monday May 18, 2015 at West Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation after a brief illness. He was the husband of Freddie M. (Bolack) Johnson of Brockton and the late Frances J. (Julian) Johnson. Bob was born in Brockton, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Johnson and lived most of his life in the city with the exception of 20 years in Whitman.
A graduate of Brockton High School, Bob enlisted in the US Marine Corps and proudly served in Korea. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant after three years of service. Bob was the proud owner of City Glass for 43 years, a company he started from the ground up.
Bob had been a member of Massachusetts 100 Club, the Blue Eagle Club and the Conte Memorial Club. In his free time he loved playing cards. Bob will be remembered as a very compassionate man who was always ready to help someone out. Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his four children Patricia A. Johnson of Brockton, Janet F. Johnson-Ponte and her husband Gary of Wareham, Robert D. Johnson of Brockton and Christian J. Johnson of Whitman. He leaves 6 grandchildren Kristin, Steven and Paul Wozniak, Kristina Farrell and Molly and Hannah Johnson and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Barbara “Snooki” Hamilton and her husband Chet of Brockton and the late William, Richard, Joseph (ret.BPD) Mary and Dorothy Johnson and Thelma Angelo. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-8 pm. Funeral service in the funeral home on Thursday at 10 am followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery.
