Obituary

Laconia-----Lucille Marie Gallien, 93, of High Street, died on Monday, May 18, 2015 at home.

Lucille was born on November 22, 1921 in Freeport, New York the daughter of Benjamin and Lucy (Fagella) Jordan.

Lucille was raised in the New York City Burroughs; she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She then worked in the business office at Macys Department Store in New York City. She met her husband in New York City, at a USO dance. They loved to Jitter Bug and continued to dance throughout their marriage of sixty years. After WWII, they moved to Derry, NH to work and raise a family.

Lucille was primarily a homemaker and also embarked with her husband in several business ventures including Demsey’s Luncheonette in Derry, NH and Stop a While Cottages on Newfound Lake. She enjoyed the simple things and pleasures in life. She was a gracious, kind, devoted wife and mother, centering her life around her family. Lucille always put others before herself. She believed the problems of the world could be solved over a proper cup of tea.

Lucille was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Joseph Church, St. Andre Bessette Parish.

Lucille is survived by her seven children; Janie Potter, and her husband, Bob, of Sheffield, VT, Donna McCarthy, and her husband, Jack, of Cherryfield, ME, Carol Darbyshire, and her husband, Paul, of Milbridge, ME, Gregory Gallien, and his wife, Lorie, of Gilford, Timothy Gallien, of Oak Hill, FL, Marie Beaudet, and her husband, Bruce, of Laconia and Susan McCann, and her husband, Timothy, of Exeter, ME; eleven grandchildren, Jeff and Beth Potter, Nora and Jack McCarthy, Zachary Darbyshire, Andrea and Keith Matthews, Jason, Jill and Erika Gallien and Jaime Jenkins; nine great grandchildren; Jacob, Trisha, Halle, Tatiana, Marcus, Charlotte, William, Olivia and Cameron and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her devoted husband, Norman “Dempsey” Gallien, infant sister, Rose and younger sister, Mildred Fagella.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00pm at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH using the Carriage House entrance.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Andre Bessette Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. Laconia NH.

Burial will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 2:00pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscaswen, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry, PO Box 6123 Laconia NH 03247.
