WEBSTER - Kathryn H. “Kay” (Ulmer) Metro, 97, died Friday, May 15, 2015 in Webster Manor after a period of declining health. Her husband, Pero “Peter” Metro, died in 1985.
She leaves 5 children, Dennis E. Metro of Shrewsbury, Peter C. Metro and his wife Jeanne of Venice, FL, Cheryl L. Leduc and her husband William of Farmington, NH, Mona J. Gagnon and her husband Russell of Sutton and Deborah P. Rousseau and her husband Gerald of Webster; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Ulmer of California; 2 sisters, Virginia Hayward and Louise Toli, both of New Hampshire; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Douglas, Donald and Neal Ulmer.
She was born and raised in Rockland, Maine, the oldest child of Alden and Geneva (Benner) Ulmer. She attended Rockland High School. She later lived in New Hampshire and Bangor, Maine before moving to Webster in 1967.
Mrs. Metro was a manager at Peerless Company in the Auburn Mall for several years before reitiring in 1979. She enjoyed bingo and reading. She was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Funeral services were held privately. There were no calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to Tri-Valley Elder Services, 10 Mill Road, Dudley, MA 01571. Arrangements were under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
