Obituary

Dinis Feliciano Melo, a 41 year resident of Stoughton passed away with his loving family by his side on Friday May 15, 2015 at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton. He was 81 years old and the beloved husband for over 57 years to Maria C. (Carvalho) Melo. Survivors include his children, Maria C. Dias of Stoughton, Dinis C. Melo and his wife Maria of Stoughton, Victor C. Melo of Stoughton, Mariano C. Melo and his wife Linda of Brockton, Noemia C. Lavin and her husband James of Oxford, MA, Eduina M. Araujo and her husband Roy of Stoughton, Belmira C. Melo and her companion Irvin Rose of Brattleboro, VT.,Rosa C. Melo of Plymouth, IN, Joe M. Melo of Stoughton and Elizabeth C. Melo and her fiance’ Charles Pereira of Wesley Chapel, Florida, his sister Maria Valerio of Sao Miguel, Acores, his brother Gil Melo also of Sao Miguel, Acores, his 31 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Melo was also a loving father to the late Fransisco C. Melo, Leonor C. Melo, Joao M. “John” Melo and a brother to the late Manuel de Melo, Luis de Melo, Antonio de Melo, Joao de Melo, Jose’ de Melo, Miguel de Melo, and Augustino de Melo.
Born April 16, 1934 in Sete Cidades, Sao Miguel, Acores he was a son born to the late Manuel Feliciano Melo and Maria Isabel Melo. Dinis moved to Stoughton in 1974 and was employed by the Ark – Les Switch Corporation as a Machine Operator for over 25 years. He was a communicant and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. He was also a former member of the Clube Luis de Camoes, the Filarmonica de Sao Joao both in Stoughton and was an active and dedicated volunteer for many years at the annual Our Lady Of Fatima and Holy Ghost Feasts also in Stoughton. Mr. Melo enjoyed making wine, playing dominos, listening to Portuguese Folk Music and had a keen interest in watching country-western films, the Three Stooges and the Benny Hill Show. He also had a great love for his family with whom he enjoyed spending time with regularly. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially his dogs, Lucky, Mylie, Teddy and Rollie.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2015 from 4P.M. – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral will be held on Thursday May 21, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. from the Sheehan,Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Followed by a funeral mass of Christian burial for the repose of his soul at 10:30 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton.The Fr. Jose' Eduardo Marques, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND.
