Obituary

Louis J. Cheverie, 87, of Rockland formerly of Whitman, passed away on Friday May 15th after a brief illness at the NE Sinai Hospital, Stoughton. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Dorothea L. (Kofinke) Cheverie.

He was born in Boston, grew up in Braintree, son of the late James and Evelyn (Carpenter) Cheverie.

Louis was a resident of Whitman for 40 years before moving to Rockland 12 years ago.

He served his country in the United States Army, during World War II from 1946-1947.

Louis was employed at the Armstrong Cork Company in Braintree for 38 years.

He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed the Red Sox, playing golf, pool and bowling and going to the casinos. In his younger years he played semi pro football.

In addition to his wife Dorothea, he is survived by his children, Richard Cheverie and his wife Paula of Pembroke, Paul Cheverie and his wife Michelle of Whitman, Donna Sampson and her husband Brad and Deborah Pickering and her husband Donald all of Pembroke, also 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, his sister Gladys (Holbrook) Canfield of FL. He was also the brother of the late Ralph Cheverie, Edna Lally, Eileen Pineault and Anna Nash.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Sunday May 17th in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, from 4:00-6:00PM, followed by Military Honors at 6:00PM.

Donations may made in his name to the charity of one’s choice.
