Shirley F. Babcock
Devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother

TEWKSBURY: Shirley Frances (Jamieson) Babcock, age 79, a resident of Tewksbury for 54 years, passed away at home, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
She was the beloved wife of John T. Babcock, with whom she celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on November 7, 2014.
Born in Everett on February 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Mary (French) Jamieson.
Shirley was raised in Medford, attended Medford schools and graduated from Medford High School.
She was a stay at home Mom and devoted her life to her husband and family.
Shirley was a devout communicant of St. Dorothy’s Parish in Wilmington.
She enjoyed vacationing on Long Lake in Maine and doting on her grandchildren.
In addition, Shirley and her husband were active supporters of Korean War Veteran Organizations.

Besides her husband John, she is survived by five children, Dennis J. Babcock of Manchester, NH, Mark A. Babcock and his wife Brenda of Tyngsboro, Donna M. Hamilton and her husband Stephen of Wilmington, Diane S. Redus and her husband Jack of Hollis, NH and Mary M. Sullivan of Wilmington; twelve grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Jonathan, and Leanne Babcock, Sarah and Eric Hamilton, Kelly Nelson and her husband Geoff, Christopher, Zachary, and Daniel Redus, Kelsey and Megan Sullivan; one great granddaughter, Lydia Nelson; her former son-in-law, Robert D. Sullivan of Wilmington; three siblings, Adam Jamieson and his wife Phyllis of Wareham, Raymond Jamieson and his wife Doris of Billerica, and Stasia Grant and her husband Richard of Billerica; her brother-in-law, Jack Kelleher of Billerica; also many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was the mother of the late Theresa A. Babcock, and sister of the late Pauline MacDonald, Barbara Kelleher, Margaret Jamieson, Daniel and Austin Jamieson.

Calling hours are Sunday, May 17, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Monday, May 18, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St., Rte. 38, Wilmington. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
