Obituary

Laconia-----Ethelyn "Lynn" Gardiner Nutter, 91, of 45 Drummer Trail and Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health on Sunday, May 3, 2015.
Lynn was born in Maine on April 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Gatcomb) Jones. She was predeceased by one sister, Marjorie Dennison of East Machias, Maine.
Besides a caring mother a devoted grandmother and great grandmother, Lynn, along with her husband, Ken, owned and operated Ken Nutter Construction for thirty-five years before their retirement in 1984 and their current business, Gilmanton Sand & Gravel created in 1982. In retirement they also created two major housing developments and continued to be an active partner in a Weirs Beach campground until it was sold in 2007. While Ken was the "hands on guy", Lynn loved and took great pride in keeping "the books", managing the finances and overseeing the office even when her health declined in November of 2014 Lynn was still making sure the books were in order.
Also with Ken, Lynn was a member and active in the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876 Emblem Club. As a couple they loved to travel, taking many bus tours and cruises and also enjoyed wintering in Florida for over 40 years. A lady from that time that nurtures and takes care of loved ones she was someone that always thought of others. Lynn will be dearly missed by all her friends, family and loved ones.
Lynn and Ken had 66 beautiful and active years together with Ken passing away last year on May 7, 2014. Lynn is survived by her sons, Bill Nutter and his wife Cindy, Bob Nutter and his wife Fay; six grandchildren, Craig Nutter and his wife Melissa, Jillian Bowes and her husband Ryan, Jennifer Pilarz and her husband Patrick, Chris Nutter and his wife Dawn, Kim Perron and her husband Adam and Amy Burke and her husband Gary and twelve great grandchildren. Special in Lynn’s life were her friend/sister-in-law, Thelma Varhach and Janice Paletta and her husband Joe; nieces Suzanne Palmer and her husband Mac, Diane Dei and her husband Brooks, and nephew Tony Varhach; several nephews, nieces and many cousins. In addition to her husband, parents and sister, Lynn was also predeceased by an infant son, Steven Bradley Nutter.
Per Lynn’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at the family plot at Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Meeting House Road, Gilmanton, N.H. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Gilmanton Community Church, PO Box 6, Gilmanton IW, NH 03837, to NH Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia NH 03247 or to Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery, 604 Meeting House Road, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837.
