Obituary

NATICK: Rosemary G. (Heron) Mahoney passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the Metrowest Medical Center in Natick. She was seventy-four years old.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on April 29, 1941, she was raised in Melrose and a 1959 graduate of the Nazareth Academy in Wakefield. She continued her education at Framingham State College and graduated with a degree in education in 1963.

Mrs. Mahoney was a longtime member and actively involved in the Natick Public Schools as an educator. She was a teacher’s aide, a teacher, a substitute teacher and a mentor. She was also a partner with her husband Dan in UNIGLOBE Travel of Natick for twenty years.

A faithful member of St. Patrick’s Church of Natick and the Adoration Chapel, she also served as a Eucharistic minister.

Rosemary was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, enjoyed traveling the world, having monthly dinners with the Wellesley Babes and her dear neighbors and friends in book club.

Rosemary loved her husband, her kids, her grandchildren, was very close to her siblings and her many supportive and caring neighbors.

She was the devoted wife of Daniel T. Mahoney, Jr. of Natick and together they shared fifty years of marriage.

She was the loving mother of James M. Mahoney of Framingham, Daniel T. Mahoney, III (Stephanie) of Washington, D.C., Christine M. LaRosa (Buddy) of Milford and Karen A. Mahoney (Christopher Nesbit) of Manchester-by-the-sea.

Cherished grandmother of Rebecca Lynn and Emma Rosemary.

Caring sister of Peggy Walsh (Tom) of Westfield, NJ, Julie Cooney of Riverdale, IL, David Heron (Lynda Hersey) of Reading, Maura Sharp (Kent) of Acton, the late Nancy Heron and she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosemary’s funeral will be held from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Saturday, May 16th at 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.

Visiting hours in the funeral home on Friday, May 15th from 4:00-7:00PM.
