Robert Lee Bartley


Ventura — Robert Lee Bartley, 84, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at home following a lengthy illness.
Bob leaves his wife of 36 years, Gini; his sisters, Betty, Jane, Abbey; his brothers in law, John, Kenny, Jim; Mother in Law, Osefa; his nieces, Carol, Anna, Veronica, Becca, Holly, Kaya, Natalie; and his nephews Jeff, Ryan, Darren, Brian, Robbie, and Loea.
Born and raised in California, the son of John and Norma Bartley. Bob lived in Woodside, Weaverville, Helendale, and Ventura among other places within California. He was educated in the San Fernando Valley and later joined the Air Force, serving as a flight engineer in Washington State and Alaska. He later retired as a Program Manager for Department of Energy.
Bob had a lifelong passion for flying that began in Alaska where he learned to fly a plane on skis. His first purchase was a $150 plane; which was succeeded by a number of recreational aircraft. Bob and his wife have traveled to just about every small airport within California. In addition, he and his wife have traveled up and down the California coast and to the Channel Islands for many years via sailboat, diesel trawler, and kayak.
Bob had a passion for animals; owned rescued dogs and cats. He befriended many animals during his daily walks at the Ventura Harbor and beaches. His will be greatly missed by all that knew him during his remarkable life.
A family memorial will be held at a later date in Ventura.
