BELLAS, Alexander, of Winthrop, May 10, 2015 at the age of 91. Born and raised in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Demetrios and Nota (Courousis) Bellas. Dear brother of Xenophon “Ken” Bellas and his wife Evelyn of CA. and the late William J. and Christy J. Bellas. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Fri, May 15, at 8:45am, followed by a Funeral Service to be held in St. George Greek Orthodox Church 54 S. Common St. Lynn, MA 01902, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be held in Winthrop Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thurs, from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Alexander was a WWII Veteran serving with the United States Coast Guard aboard the U.S.S. Vance (DE-387). He was discharged with rating of Motor Machinist’s Mate 2/c. Following his military service, Alex went to work for Eastern Airlines at Logan Airport in Boston until his retirement.
