Obituary

LACONIA - John (Jack) Marshall, 75, of 21 Gilbert Street, born March 28, 1940, slipped quietly and gently away Friday evening, May 8, 2015 in the loving arms of his wife of 42 years, Trudi. Jack, as he was known by his family and friends, was raised in the construction business trade, starting at an early age working with his father in the family business, John C. Marshall & Sons. He merged with another construction firm to form Mooney Corporation in the late 1970’s and worked on many larger commercial job sites over the years, such as LRGH renovations and Kingswood Regional High and Vocational School, as well as recreational venues, such as Black Bear Ski Lodge and the Lodge at Loon Mountain. After the building bust in the 1990’s, Jack worked at Howland’s Laundromat and with their construction section of the business. He really had come full circle from small home renovations, to multimillion dollar commercial jobs, back to small home renovations.
When the laundromat was sold to Dan and Sandy Roberts, Jack came as part of the package, repairing the machinery and helping with the electronics; this was a job he relished because he could see how to take one thing and make it entirely serve another purpose that surpassed the usefulness of the original item! In 2001 Jack obtained his Amateur Radio License as a Technician and had the call sign of KB1GQT, which gave him a great deal of pleasure. He very much enjoyed “lurking” and listening in on the weekly meetings as well as to the calls on the local repeater.
Due to health issues, Jack officially retired from work in July 2014, devoting his time to his family. He remained active until the very end, working on numerous projects, both of his own making, and assisting others with theirs. At Jack’s request, he donated his organs to the New England Organ Bank in Waltham, MA, which can only serve to underscore his generosity and love.
Jack was predeceased by his parents John and Wilma Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Trudi, his son, Marc Marshall, his daughter in law, Megan and grandchildren Jack and Josie all of Wichita, KS; his daughter, Kim Marshall and his grandchildren Caelan of Phoenix, AZ and Laconia, NH, Eliana and Phoenix Norwood, of Laconia, NH; his sister, Jeanne McCutcheon of Exeter, RI, his brothers Alan and David Marshall of Framingham, MA and Philip Marshall and his sister in law Beth Marshall of The Woodlands, TX. He also leaves nine nieces and nephews, living in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Virginia and Nicaragua; twenty-two great nieces and nephews and two great-great nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. Interment will on Friday May 15, 2015 at 11 AM at the family plot in Union Cemetery .
In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lakes Region Community Emergency Response Team, 67 Water Street, Suite 105, Laconia, NH 03246 to help them prepare to help others.
