New Bedford – Arthur Souza, age 90 of New Bedford formerly of Dartmouth, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Sacred Heart Home. He was the son of the late Hortense (Roderiques) and Ernest Souza.
Born in Dartmouth, Mr. Souza spent most of his life in this area and worked as battery hand at Berkshire Hathaway until his retirement.
Pvt Arthur Souza proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
He is survived by a sister, Irene Cabral as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arthur was predeceased by siblings: John Souza, Lionel Souza, Stanley Souza, Manuel Souza, Mary Fernandes and Francelina Silveira.
Mr. Souza will be cremated. Burial with full military honors will take place in St. John Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma 02740.
