Laconia----- Shirley F. Corno 86, of 30 County Drive, formerly of 38 Heather Lane in Gilford, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015.
Shirley was born July 29, 1928 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late John E. and Madelyn (Michelovich) Farrell.
Shirley worked for the New England Telephone Company for almost thirty years. For many years she was a manager of directory assistance for the state of New Hampshire.
Shirley was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of The Lakes Church in Lakeport and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. In addition, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and The Ladies Guild. She helped run the New-to-You Shop. One of Shirley’s favorite activities was spending time with her family, especially in the summer when the pool was open and the grandchildren were there. She cooked and baked always for family, for work, for Church and for friends. Shirley will be remembered for always being available when help was needed.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Lionel R. Corno, with whom she celebrated their 66th Wedding anniversary on April 10, 2015. She has four daughters Sheila Corno Mattaliano and her husband Robert J. of Northborough, MA, Sherry A. Sleeper and her husband Thomas F. of Gilford, Sharon C. Lavigne of East Hampstead and Lorna R. Corno and her partner Robert D. Woods of Manchester and a son Lee Corno of Laconia; five grandchildren, Duane Sleeper of Gilford, Kelley Couture and her husband Matt of Laconia, Marsha Weeks and her husband Roger of Gilford, Shawn Lavigne of Manchester and Christopher Mattaliano of Minneapolis, MN; six great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Lillian Moore in 2013 and her son-in-law, Donald Lavigne in 2013.
Calling hours will be Monday, May 11, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Saint Andres Bessette Parish, St. Joseph's Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH.A Memorial mass will follow at 11:00am.
