Obituary

Mr. John Richard Marocco, a resident of North Andover for the past 57 years and beloved husband of Mary Alice (Shea) Marocco, passed away at the Wingate at Andover Nursing Center on Sunday morning, May 3, 2015. He was 81 years old.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on December 6, 1933, John was the beloved son of the late Girolamo and Lena (Cotino) Marocco. He was a graduate of Andover's Punchard High School and had attended North Eastern University. Mr. Marocco was a Korean War Veteran, entering the Army at Boston on October 7, 1953 and receiving is honorable discharge from Ft. Hood, Texas on October 6, 1955. While serving in the military, Mr. Marocco had attained the rank of SP3 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service. In civilian life, John worked as a Sales Manager for Met Life for more than 38 years. He also was the proprietor of the former Sea Train of Andover from 1980 to 1995 and also operated a cleaning company know as Maids to Order for nearly 10 years. In his spare time, Mr. Marocco always loved to have his friends over to play cards. Above all, John was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Alice, he is survived by his children; Lisa J. and her husband Peter Albano of Westfield, Mark J. Marocco of Lowell, Timothy J. Marocco of Groveland and Mary P. Marocco of Haverhill, brother and sister-in-law; Laurence J. and his wife Christine of Andover, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Maurice P., III and his wife Alicia C. Shea of Naples, Florida, grandchildren; Jennifer and her husband Kevin Mooradian, John, Michele, Jacqui and Jordan Marocco, Nerissa Rossi and her fiance Joseph Manzi, Natasha and Nicholas Rossi, Alexa Kelley and Nicholas and Zachary Albano, great-grandchildren; Audrey Mooradian and Dominic Manzi and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, May 8, 2015, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
