New Bedford – Fernando Ferro Machado, age 81 of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ana Maria (Vieira) Machado and the son of the late Maria dos Anjos (Medeiros) and Ernesto Pacheco Machado.
Born in Povocao, St. Michael, Azores, Mr. Machado came to this country in 1957 and was employed as a Production Worker until his retirement.
His family includes his 6 children: John Manuel Machado, Patricia Ann Marques, both of New Bedford, Eduarda M. Baeta of Dartmouth, Fernando Machado of New Bedford, Ann-Marie Desorcy and Angie Marie Machado, both of Dartmouth; 3 siblings: Olivia Bento of St. Michael, John Machado of Canada, the late Gloria Costa and the late Manuel Machado; as well as 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday morning beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M.
