Ronald Silvia, Sr., of Swansea, age 70, loving husband of Bernadette (Dionne) Silvia, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 4, 2015. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel and Loretta (Boyd) Silvia. Ronald graduated from Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in 1963. He worked in the architectural woodwork field until 1986 when he taught his skills at Diman for 22 years. Being an avid admirer of Diman, he ran for the Diman School Committee and served one term. He was recently re-elected to that same position hoping to continue.
In addition to his wife, Ronald also leaves behind his children: Ronald Silvia, Jr. (wife Erin) of Swansea, Robert Silvia (wife Christine) of Swansea and Wendy Morrow (husband Alfred) of Dighton and his grandchildren: Jonathan, Jessica, Cassidy, Zachary, Hope and Aidan. He is also survived by his brother Henry Silvia of Fall River and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was predeceased by his brother John B. Silvia.
Following cremation, his funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on SATURDAY here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Swansea. Calling hours on FRIDAY from 4-7 P.M.
