Hilbert W. Nilsson, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully May 1st in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 50 years of age. "Hibby" as he was affectionately known to his family and friends was one of six children of the late Hilbert W. and Ruth (Valcour) Nilsson Jr.

Hibby was a 1983 graduate of Woburn Memorial High School. He worked as painter for Cummings Properties since 1998. Hibby was totally devoted to his children. He was involved in every aspect of their lives. He enjoyed coaching them as they participated in youth sports and supporting them in all their different school activities. Family was Hibby's main focus and nothing gave him more joy than when family and friends would gather for the holidays or a cookout, always ready for a game of corn hole or hanging out together playing cards. He was also a member of Woburn's Loyal Order of Moose.

He is lovingly survived by his children, Leagh and Cameron Nilsson, both of Woburn. He was the cherished brother of Elaine Nilsson of Woburn, Patricia Haley and her husband Paul of Woburn, Peter Nilsson and his wife Patricia of Mashpee, Mary Cain and her husband Mark of Woburn and the late John J. Nilsson. Cousin and dear friend of Kristen Ahearn and her husband Gregory of Woburn. Also survived by his special uncle and aunt, Donald and Gail Nilsson, of Woburn. He is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, May 6th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gail Nilsson, 30 Munroe Ave, Woburn, MA 01801 for an education fund that will be established for Hibby's children.
