Luisa de Jesus (Mendonca) America , a loving housewife and 48 year resident of Stoughton passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday May 2, 2015. She was 86 years old and the beloved wife of Jose’ F. America. She was also the loving mother of Ilda (America) Macedo and her husband Joao of Stoughton, Arlindo America and his wife Maria of Taunton, Angelina America of Stoughton , Genesia “Janice” America of Stoughton, Dina O’Neil and her husband Timothy of Plymouth and the late Jose M. America. Other survivors include her 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was also a sister to the late Maria Avelar, Jose Mendonca and John Mendonca.
Born July 27, 1928 in Santa Cruz, Flores, Portugal she was a daughter to the late Manual and Catarina Mendonca and has resided in Stoughton since 1966. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation hour on Tuesday May 5, 2015 from 10- 11 a.m. in the Sheehan, Lowe & Powers Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Her prayer service will follow and burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham,MA 01701 in Luisa’s memory, would be appreciated.
