New Bedford – Gida (Freitas) Moniz age 90 passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at St. Lukes Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Frank P. Moniz and the daughter of the late Eugenia (Cabral) and Frank Freitas.
Gida was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She worked as a Floor Supervisor at Best Manufacturing until her retirement.
Her family includes her children: Susan Souza and her husband David of Dartmouth, and Stephen Moniz and his wife Natalie of Dartmouth, her grandchildren: Jenna Tieu and her husband Minh, and Christopher Moniz, great grandchildren: Jayden Le-Tieu, and Ellie Le-Tieu, 1 sister: Adeline Alfonse and her husband Alfred , a brother in law: Leonard Costa as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Avellar and Carmen Costa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Padanaram. Burial of her cremated remains will be private at the request of the family. Visitation is omitted. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
