Ian M. Roderick, age 23, of Canton and Norton passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, April 26, 2015.
Born in Boston, MA on January 22, 1992, he was a loving son of Carolyne E. (Roderick) Vatalaro and her husband Paul of Norton and Patrick D. Vincent of Attleboro.
Ian grew up in Canton and Norton. He received his early education at St. Catherine of Siena School in Norwood and later graduated from Norton High School.
Ian worked as a tow truck driver; most recently for Bill and Mikes Automotive in Dedham, and had formerly been employed at Don and Wallys in Norwood.
The times he treasured the most were with family and friends, especially being a great big brother. He loved playing hockey and passed along his knowledge of the sport, serving as an assistant hockey coach for children with special needs.
Ian’s other interests included being a true New England sports fan and the peacefulness of fishing at the Norton Reservoir.
In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by dear brothers Cameron J. and Brennan J. Vatalaro of Norton. He was the cherished grandson of Elizabeth J. Roderick of Canton, Kenneth J. Roderick of Belmont, Michael Vincent of East Taunton and the late Krystie Vincent. He was the adoring great grandson of Arthur and Anna Elizabeth Roderick of Somerville. He was the beloved nephew of Jennifer Marie Roderick and her husband Matthew Goodis of Canton, and is also survived by other loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday. May 2nd from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Ian’s family has requested that donations in his memory may be made to North Cottage, 69 East Main St., Norton, MA 02766.
