Edward M. Collins, 93, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, April 27, 2015.
His wife of 60 years, Margaret E. (Smith) Collins died July 9, 2007.
He was also predeceased by his son, Dennis M. Collins who died January 28, 2008.
He leaves behind a daughter, Maureen E. O’Connor and her husband Thomas F. O’Connor of Dudley, a daughter-in-law, Norma L. Collins of Webster, 5 grandchildren, Joshua M. Collins and his wife Susan, Ryan G. Collins and his wife Kristin, Shawn P. Collins, Molly M. O’Connor and Jack E. O’Connor, and 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Joan ‘Betty’ Dumouchel of Dudley, Stasia ‘Barbara’ Menard of No. Grosvenordale, Ct., and Teresa Dumouchel of Dudley, also several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by 2 brothers, William J. and Francis A. Collins and a sister, Rita C. Collins.
Ed was born in Webster,December 4, 1921, the son of Edward M. and Stasia C. (Moronczyk) Collins and lived here all his life.
He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and saw action in the European – African Theater and was a Sergeant.
He then worked for the Wyman-Gordon Co., in Worcester, and then for the Town of Webster as a superintendent at the Sewer Treatment Plant for many years, before retiring.
He was a member of St. Louis Church, a longtime member of the Booster Athletic Club, Mass. retirees Assoc., loved to tinker around the house, he enjoyed cooking, going to the ocean , especially Point Judith, clamming, catching lobster, he was always seen around on his tractor.
Ed also loved to be outside or just sitting on his front porch, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
Ed lived a Good Life! He will Always be remembered by All who met him.
Ed’s Funeral will be Friday, May 1, 2015 with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Louis Church, 16 Lake St., burial with Military Honors, provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans’ Council will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Dudley.
A Calling Period will be Friday, May 1, 2015 from 8AM to 9:30AM at the ROBERT J. MILLER FUNERAL HOME and LAKE CHAPEL, 366 School St.
