Eduardo Borges, age 87, passed away on Tuesday April 22, 2015. Born in Remédios da Bretanha, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Antonio and Paulina (Arruda) Borges, and the husband of Alice (Vultao) Borges. He was a construction worker for many years and retired as an aluminum processor at Lightolier. He enjoyed playing guitar for the Holy Ghost Folia at Espirito Santo Church, and was a member of the Our Lady of Light Band.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: Georgina Paula Viana (companion Joseph Miranda), Tessie Rezendes (husband Armand), (owner of the former Tessie’s hair Salon), Mary “Betty” Arruda (husband Antonio), and Edward Borges (wife Lucia); sisters: Olivia Carvalho and Alice Amaral; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter: Kara, and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on MONDAY here at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Espirito Santo Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on SUNDAY from 3-5 P.M.
