Obituary

Raymond Harris Lamar

Augusta – Mr. Raymond Harris Lamar, husband of the late Marion Smith Lamar, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Lamar retired from Federal Paper after more than 30 years as an electrician. Born and raised in Frog Hollow, he grew up fast and shouldered adult responsibilities even as a child. His family always came first, and he was a wonderful provider and protector. He had an abundance of common sense, hard-won street smarts, and a high IQ. He also had the heart of a lion, never backing down from any fight or challenge. This same huge heart showered his family with affection. Throughout their childhood, he told his children daily how much he loved them, and hugs and kisses always followed. This continued into adulthood, continued with his grandchildren, and has become the best type of family tradition.

He never fully recovered from the loss of his greatest treasure, his beloved wife, Marion. That they are once again reunited in Heaven is of great comfort to those who mourn him today.

Mr. Lamar is survived by his daughter, Shannon Marlowe (Mark), his son, Kipler Lamar (Vickie) and his grandchildren, Aaron Marlowe, Seth Marlowe, Raymond Harris Lamar and Hayden Lamar.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Families of SMA, 925 Busse Road, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, 60007, or at www.fsma,org.
