Rene O. Roy, 87, of East Hartford, CT and formerly of Kent St. in Berlin, N.H. passed away on Wednesday April 22, 2015 in East Hartford. He was born in Berlin on August 12, 1927 the son of Augustin and Marie Louise (Bilodeau) Roy and lived in Berlin until 2007 when he moved to East Hartford. He had been employed as a paper maker at James River Corp. and was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Knights of Columbus Council 506 and the Marie Rivier Association.
Family includes his wife Bertha (Cloutier) Roy of East Hartford, CT; daughters Rita B. Roy of East Hartford, CT, Gloria Koch of Nashua, NH and Anita L. Roy-Peterson of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren Shawn Howard, Derek Howard, Shelly Townsend, April Sanborn, Maree McBrayer, Christine Doggett, Robert Valliere, Kristopher Jackson and Kathryn Jackson; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers Ronald Roy of Berlin, NH, and Roland Roy of Berlin, NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers Raoul Roy, of TX, and Rev. Roger Roy, OMI, of Lowell, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 27, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be St. Anne Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
