Obituary

Clairina (Dube) Currier, 87 passed away peacefully after a short illness on April 21, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. Clairina was born on July 30, 1927 in Lawrence, MA to the Ludger and Clairina Dube as the 8th of their 14 children. She married Robert Currier of Lawrence on November 11, 1951. Clairina and Robert lived in Lawrence for over 50 years. Clairina worked hard her entire life. She ran her own business, Lowell Street Fish & Chip, and co-owned the Parker Tavern with her husband Robert. But the job she loved the most was caring for and teaching her four granddaughters.

Clairina loved spending time with her family; she travelled to many countries with her children and granddaughters. She loved to play cards and other games. Clairina had a zest for life and brought joy and laughter to every situation. For the last four years, she lived at Marland Place in Andover, where she made many good friends. Her family remembers Clairina as a kind and compassionate woman, generous with her time, her energy and most of all, her love. She was a member of the Third Order of Mary and a long time parishioner at St. Augustine’s Church of Andover.

Clairina was the loving wife of the late Robert Currier with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of William Currier and his wife Teresita of Southwick MA, Jane Walsh and her husband Michael of Winchester MA and Kevin Currier and his wife Laura of Seabrook, NH. Clairina was the beloved grandmother of Amy Lovasco, Elizabeth Rowan, Melissa Briggie and Meghan Currier. She was also the cherished great-grandmother of Liam Rowan, Emma Rowan and Katherine Lovasco. Clairina is also survived by her sister, Helene Desfosses and three brothers, Gerard, Armand and Richard Dube. She was preceded in death by, her sisters Jeanette Riches, Cecile Gaudes, Theresa Boie, Marcelle Devine, and her brothers Arthur Dube, Leo Dube, Roland Dube, Ludger Dube and Robert Dube.

Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday April 24 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Parish, 26 Central St. Andover. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery of Andover. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Clairina’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House at 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
