Age 90
Of White Bear Lake
Gerald went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 9, 2015. Survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Grace; children Gail (Nick) Gisi, Gregg, Gerilyn, Glenn (Mary), and Garnet (Rod) Reimann; grandchildren Alyssa, Erin, and Nicholas, Jesse, Brittany, and Cory, Heather and Blaine, Brittani, Ben, Cole, Logan, and Grayson; 8 great grandchildren; and his brother Cornelius. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Cornelius Van Swol; his twin brother Marvin; and sisters Marjorie and Jane Kaye.

Gerald served as a member of the 40th Mobile Communications Radio Squadron of the Army Air Forces during WW II. He went on to a career as an educator, 23 of those years teaching in the MN Community College system. He was dedicated to his family and his faith and was an active volunteer in his church, Maplewood Evangelical Free Church, The Gideons International, St. John's Hospital, the Science Museum of MN, and the Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities. Gerald leaves a wonderful legacy as a faithful servant of God, a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a loyal friend.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM at the Union Gospel Mission Ministry Center, 580 W Hwy 96, Shoreview, MN. Memorials preferred to The Gideons International or the Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities.
