Obituary

NATICK: Edward D. Cloonan, age 75, a former longtime Natick resident, died surrounded by his loving family on Friday night, April 10, 2015, at his Dennis Port home. He was for 57 years the beloved husband of Nancy (Turner) Cloonan.

Born and raised in Watertown, he was a son of the late James and Bridget (Nee) Cloonan. Ed was a graduate of Saint Patrick’s School and subsequently Watertown High School. Soon thereafter he started work as a bricklayer and joined the Bricklayers union BAC #3 with who he remained throughout his career.

Ed and Nancy were married in 1957, and lived in Newton prior to settling in Natick in 1962. They raised their growing family with love, compassion and strong moral compass. For many years the Cloonan's enjoyed camping at the Big Rock in Campton NH where they loved fishing hiking and shared much fun and laughter with family. He also enjoyed spending the colder months in Venice, Florida, where he and Nancy enjoyed the beaches and warmth of the sun. He loved all New England sports teams showing his enthusiasm rather loudly at times. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. Edward will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by Nancy, their children, James F. Cloonan and his wife Tina of Tampa, FL, Edward D. Cloonan, Jr, of Grafton, Patricia Hladick and her husband Martin “Budd” of Bellingham, John Cloonan and his wife Margo of Sandwich, Kelly Petteruto and her husband Joe of Medway, and Terry Cloonan of Bellingham; 12 grandchildren, Edward, Leann, Michael, Robyn, John, Tim, Katie, Molly, Abbey, Brayden, Declan, and Niamh; great-grandchildren Jade, Kacey, and Gavin; and his brothers Robert Cloonan of Watertown and Thomas Cloonan and his wife Maureen of Bourne. He was also the brother of the late James Cloonan and Mary Theresa Cloonan.

Edwards Funeral service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Friday, April 17th at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday, 4 – 8PM.
