Neil P. Harrington, of Lady Lake, FL, formerly of Medford, MA and East Hartford, CT, died April 9th, 2015.

Neil was born in Medford, MA and resided in Hartford, CT for many years before retiring to Florida. He attended Medford public schools and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. A retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, he enjoyed a long retirement and enjoyed golf, walking and physical fitness. During his retirement, he made many trips back to New England to visit his family and friends. Neil will be remembered for his quick wit, generosity and his loyalty.

Mr. Harrington served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a decorated veteran. He participated in the Rome-Arno campaign, Southern France campaign, Rhineland campaign, Balkans campaign, North Apennines campaign, Northern France campaign, and the Normandy campaign. He earned numerous medals including the Purple Heart, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and 7 Battle Stars. He was honorably discharged with the grade of Staff Sergeant.

Neil is survived by his sister, Esther Creed, of Georgia, and was predeceased by his sister Frances Parker, brothers Daniel J., John F., James F., Michael B., Franklin J., and Lawrence B. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Rita Zwick of Lady Lake, FL and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday April 18th at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours are omitted.
