John W. Mixon

Augusta, GA – John Warren Mixon entered into rest Thursday, April 9, 2015 after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Betty Stokes Mixon for 43 years.

John was born in Lake Wales, FL, but has resided in Augusta for the past 45 years. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in Vietnam. He received a Bachelor of Science from Augusta College in 1976 and worked at DSM Chemicals for 36 years.

He is survived by many family members including his daughter, Michelle Mixon Collins, her husband Robert Steven Collins and their two daughters, Ann Ferguson Collins and Kate Evelyn Collins, all of Martinez; his son, Matthew Wayne Mixon and his two children, son Madison Tyler Mixon and daughter Mya Lynn Mixon, and their mother, Mary Wilson Mixon; his mother, Catherine Callahan of Evans; and his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Evelyn Stokes of Harlem.

John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the most important aspect of his life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, reading, and watching baseball and college football.

A graveside service will be Monday, April 13, 2015 at 12 Noon in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Thurman Norville officiating.
