Worcester, MA - Melvin Douglas Peters, 71, died peacefully with family by his side at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus/ICU, on April 8, 2015. He was the son of the late Frank A. and Doris R. (Burritt) Peters.
He leaves a brother, Robert C. "Pete" Peters and his wife Marion R. of Worcester. He was predeceased in February by a brother, Frank B. Peters. He is also survived by his wife of 17 years, Nancy McDonald; three daughters, Donna Mae Appiah-Peters and her husband Kwame Appiah of Worcester; Michele Williams-Peters and her husband Alfonzo Williams of Worcester; Melanie Ross of New Hampshire; a step-daughter, Lisa and her husband Robert Hackett of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids. His hobbies included anything to do with wolves, eagles, cowboys or Indians. He enjoyed going to the Marine Corps League with his brother. The family extends thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and PCA's for all their support.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street will be held on Monday, from 4-7pm. A funeral service will follow at 7pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date. For directions or to leave an on-line condolence message, please click link below.
