Obituary

Mr. Robert J. A. Berube, 89, of Haverhill died peacefully at his home. The son of Wilfred and Aurore (Michaud) Berube was born in Lawrence. Mr. Berube had been an area resident all of his life. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II in the European - African - Middle Eastern Theater. Mr. Berube’s achievements include attaining the rank of Machinist Mate 1st Class and was an original member of the Amphibious Scouts and Raiders, the predecessors of the Navy UDT/SEALs and Special Warfare Combat-Craft Crewmen (SWCC) operators. Mr. Berube was retired maintenance technician at AVCO Textron Corp. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed hard work and tinkering. Mr. Berube was a member of the American Legion Post 315 in Dracut, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9307 in Dracut, and is listed in the National UDT / SEALs Museum in Ft. Pierce, FL. The widower of Theresa (Roy) Berube he is also predeceased by his sister Bertha Lawrie, who died February 13, 2015. Mr. Berube is survived by: one daughter; Paula and her husband Kenneth Stanvick of Pelham, NH. Four sons; John Berube of Daphne, AL, David Berube of Seabrook, NH, Peter Roy of Midwest City OK, and Leo Roy and his wife Kathy of Deerfield, NH. There are eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday April 24 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Road, Dracut, MA. A memorial service will be held on Friday at Racicot Funeral Home at 11:00 am, burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
