COLLEY, Irene R. (Matroni), of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away at the Don Orione Nursing Home on April 8, 2015. She was 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Wallace A. Colley. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Albert Matroni-BPD and Josephine (Basile) Matroni. Devoted mother of Christine Box and her husband Todd of FL, Cynthia M. Gordon and her late husband John of Winthrop and the late Richard A. Colley Sr. Adored grandmother of Sharyn Wolf, Richard A. Colley Jr., Michael and Christopher Gordon, and Robert Tarantino all of Winthrop, Ashley Gordon of Revere, and Tyler and Erika Box of FL. Great-grandmother of Riley of Winthrop and Landon of Revere. Visiting hours will be held at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop, on Sat. April 11, beginning at 9am. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Cremation to follow will be private. Irene was a graduate of St. Lazerus School in East Boston and later went on to earn a Certificate from Boston Clerical School. She went on to work as a clerical typist in Washington D.C. in 1942. After retiring from there, she later went on to work at the Winthrop Hospital as a secretary and the Winthrop High School Snack Room as an Assistant.
