Bruce Shefshick, of Castro Valley, CA, formerly of Chelsea died April 7th. Born in Chelsea the son of the late Israel & Bertha (Lewis) Shefshick. A resident of California since 1975. A graduate of Chelsea High School he continued his education with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst & his Master’s degree from University of California Berkley. He was a member of Temple Beth Sholom of San Leandro, CA & a Hadassah associate, a season ticket holder since 2003 for the Oakland Athletics & a member of the Oakland Museum of California. Among his charitable works he sponsored many little league teams. He worked as a system analyst for the County of Alameda. He enjoyed working with stained glass had been employed with the Rainbow Vacuum Cleaning Co. as a salesman and IT person. He was an avid sportsman involved in hiking, biking, lifting weights and he also enjoyed his annual family reunions in Old Orchard Beach, ME.
Bruce is survived by his step son Jonathan Laureta- Revelo of Hayward, CA, his sister S. Judith Shefshick-Karll & her husband Stephen of Braintree & a large extended family. Funeral services from the Torf Funeral Chapel 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea, Sunday at 12:00 PM. Interment in the Chevra Kadisha of Chelsea Cemetery 232 Fuller St., Everett. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Beth Sholom 642 Dolores St. San Leandro, CA 94577 or Hadassah 33 Brookside Rd. Needham, MA 02492. Memorial observance will be held from the home of Judith & Stephen Karll following the burial until 8:00PM then continuing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 3-8PM, and Friday from 1-4PM. Minyan will be held at 7:00 PM during Shiva.
