Gerard F. “Gerry” McParland of Natick passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston at the age sixty-six.
Born in Boston in 1948, he was the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Ford) McParland. Gerard worked as a postman for six years before becoming a Natick Firefighter and EMT, local 1707 for thirty-two years. A job he truly enjoyed and was proud of.
He was a Natick resident most of his life, a member of St. Patrick’s Church of Natick and a lifelong member of the Natick Elks.
Gerard enjoyed his family especially attending his grandchildren’s practices and sporting events. He liked crossword puzzles, golfing and all New England sports teams.
Mr. McParland was the devoted husband of Linda A. (Forshner) McParland of Natick and together they shared forty-eight years of marriage.
He was the loving father of Kathleen Marchand and her husband Shane of Natick and Colleen Cotter and her husband William, also of Natick. A Cherished grandfather of Griffin Marchand, Charles, Joshua and Sydney Cotter, all of Natick and the caring brother of Stephen McParland and his wife Beth of Boston and the late Doris McParland and the late Charles McParland, Jr.
Gerard’s funeral will be held from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Friday, April 10th at 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 44 E. Central St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
Visiting hours Thursday, April 9th from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
