New Bedford – Maria Amelia Medeiros, age 82 of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Bedford Village Nursing Home. She was the loved wife of the late Alvaro Medeiros and the daughter of the late Amelia (Correia) and Jose Pacheco.
Mrs. Medeiros was born in Fayal, Azores, moved to this country in 1966, worked as an Inspector at Cliftex Clothing until her retirement.
Her family includes her son , Jeffrey Medeiros of New Bedford; grandchildren Tabatha and Adam Medeiros, siblings: Gloria Lima of Fairhaven, Agusto Medeiros and the late Lidia Fernandes, and Jose Pacheco, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Thursday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 P.M.
