Obituary


James A. Glendye, 89, a longtime resident of Lawrence, died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Nevins Home in Methuen.


He was born in Methuen on March 18, 1926 to Joseph & Marion (Caswell) Glendye. Educated in Methuen public schools. He was a WWII Navy Veteran having served as a Seaman 1st Class. He worked for Western Electric Co. in North Andover for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid fan of sports which teams included the Boston Bruins and the Red Sox. He loved to walk his neighborhood and be the neighborhood crime watchdog. He also loved the beach especially Salisbury Beach.
He is the husband of the late: Ellen (Hurley) Glendye. Survived by his sons: Phillip J. and his wife Karen Glendye of Lawrence & John and his wife Nancy Glendye of Salem, NH, and one grand-daughter Jenna Aliyah Glendye of New York, NY, as well as one brother: Joseph and his wife Dorothy Glendye of Salem, NH, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one brother: Richard Glendye of Savannah, GA.
Funeral Arrangements: A funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 10:00AM at the funeral home in Lawrence. Burial services will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.
