Obituary

NATICK: Salvatore R. Morganti, age 84, longtime owner and operator of Fifth Avenue Liquors in Framingham, died at his Natick home on Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2015, surrounded by his whole family. He was the devoted husband of Ann M. (Pierro) Morganti, with whom he shared 64 happy years.

Born, raised and educated in Needham, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Jennie (Rizzo) Morganti. Sal earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts prior to serving with the Army as a Corporal with the 34th Infantry Regiment Medical Company during the Korean War.

Sal and Ann married in 1951, settling in Natick to raise their family. He was employed for many years as a sales rep, first with Snap-on Tools and later handling accounts for Evsco Pharmaceuticals. Forty-five years ago, Sal established Fifth Avenue Liquors in Framingham. He has operated the business with his son Paul by his side, and was pleased to see the interest of a third generation in continuing the family legacy.

The Morganti Family has shared many wonderful times at their Natick and Harwichport homes, but come Thursday, Sal’s agenda was simple and constant. Golf with his foursome. He had been a member of both the Natick Elks Lodge 1425, and the Woodland Golf Club of Auburndale. He was currently a member of the Cummaquid Golf Club in Barnstable.

Predeceased by daughter Paula A. Reasonover in 1995, Sal is survived by Ann; their son, Paul R. Morganti and his wife Kathi of Holliston; five grandchildren, Katie Morganti Stewart, Michael Morganti, Casey Reasonover, Randy Reasonover, and Lindsey Morganti Duffy; and seven great-grandchildren, Lorelei, Avery, Trace, Clay, Annie, Quinn, and Noah. He was also the brother of the late Anthony Morganti, a lifelong Needham resident.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Monday, April 6th at 11:00A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment with military honors will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.

Donations in Sal’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
