New Bedford – Rolando M. Brizida, age 91 of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the loved husband of 64 years to Ana (Pacheco) Brizida and the son of the late Maria and Manuel Brizida.
Mr. Brizida was born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, moved to this country in 1966, worked as a Weaver at Berkshire Hathaway until his retirement and was Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
He was a loving man who filled the lives of his family with beautiful memories that will forever be treasured.
His family includes his wife, Ana Brizida, of New Bedford; 4 children: Carlos Brizida and his wife, Sandra, of Dartmouth, Ana George of Wareham, Joseph Brizida of New Bedford and the late Rolando Brizida; as well as 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Rolando was predeceased by 14 siblings.
His funeral will be Wednesday beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Tuesday evening in the funeral home from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
