Obituary

Laval E. Legare, 87, of Pond St, Woonsocket, died Wednesday, April 1, in Oakland Grove Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Therese (Chapdelaine) Legare. Mr. Legare was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Donat and Laura (Fortin) Legare, and Maryanne (Pouliot) Legare, his stepmother.
He worked for Goodyear for twenty four years and as a machinist for Industrial Machine for many years before retiring in 1990.
He was an avid tennis player and bowler, and had a keen interest in genealogy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son; Paul Legare, and his wife Mary of Attleboro, a daughter, Gloria Nolan and her husband Dennis of East Hampton, MA, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, two brothers; Hubert Legare of Norristown, PA, and Raymond Legare of N.Smithfield, and a sister, Lucille Moison of Woonsocket. He was also the brother of the late Lucien and Roger Legare.
Visitation will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Charles Church, North Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: Beacon Hospice, 1Catamore Blvd. East Providence, RI 02914.
