Salvatore F. “Sonny” Caruso passed away at home after a long illness. He was 75. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, he was the son of the late Domenic and Rose (Aprile) Caruso. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After his service to our nation, he worked at Ace Carbon for several years until he began work with the United States Post Office in Somerville. A Somerville resident since 1975, Sonny was a member of the Madonna Del Soccorso Society in the North End. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed the company of his many friends.


The beloved husband of the late Rita (Marino), he was a devoted father to Rosanne Haywood and her husband Howard of Andover, Maria Caruso and Daniel Caruso of Somerville, and the late Christine Caruso. The loving grandfather of Jonathan Haywood, he was the dear brother of the late Frank Caruso and leaves many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday April 7th at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, 12 North Sq., Boston, at 9:45 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Monday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
