Mr. William H. “Bill” Richardson, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved husband of Ruth E. (Leggett) Richardson, passed away at his home in Medford on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2015. He was 85 years old.
Born in Medford on January 20, 1930, he was the beloved son of the late George H. and Andrea C. (Madsen) Richardson. Bill was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1948 and worked as a Produce Manager for Stop & Shop until his retirement in 1995. Bill was a US Air Force veteran, entering the military at Pease Air Force Base on July 31, 1962 and receiving his honorable discharge on August 31, 1968. While in the military, Mr. Richardson worked as a Technical and Mechanical Sergeant. Bill was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his beloved wife, Ruth, he is survived by his son and his partner; Thomas E. Cannon and Michele M. Miller, bot of Bozeman, Montana, siblings; Russell Richardson of Woburn, Douglas Richardson of Sunapee, New Hampshire, Stuart Richardson of Methuen and Evelyn Flaherty of Melrose, grandchildren; Lesley, Jeffrey, Thomas Jr., Nicholas, Julie, Ruth Anne and Sean, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late William Cannon and brother of the late Wayne Richardson, Dorothy Ferris and Ethel McCormack.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the funeral home, prior to the service from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. Interment will be held in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
