Obituary

Augusta, GA - Faye Ruth Johnson Hoops, widow of John R. “Jack” Hoops, Jr. entered into rest on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Stevens Park Health and Rehabilitation. Faye was a devout Christian, and she and Jack were founding members of Advent Lutheran Church. Services will be at 11:00 on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Advent Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrea Windsor -Peterson and the Rev. Jason Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

As a young girl, Faye was known for her beautiful singing voice, and she performed at many weddings and other functions as well as on the radio. Later in life, she found her passion in writing poetry and short stories, many of which were published in numerous publications including the premier edition of the Sand Hills Anthology. One of her short stories won second place in a five-state writers’ competition. Faye also had a love of antiques, and with her sister Vivian, opened Willow Cottage Antiques and Gifts.

Survivors include her son, Lee Hoops; grandchildren, Katie Randall (Tommy), Christopher Hoops (Donna), and Patrick Hoops; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Randall, Cody Palmer, Costner Palmer, and Caroline Palmer; niece, Ruth Jatho (Jim); nephews William “Chip” Lowe (Carol) and Patrick O’Connor (Cindy); daughter-in-law, Brenda Hoops. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Lee Johnson and Bessie Ruth Eubanks Johnson; her husband, Jack Hoops; her son, Henry Hoops, and her sister Vivian Johnson Lowe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Advent Lutheran Church; 3232 Washington Road; Augusta, GA 30907.
