Obituary

Marian (Marie-Anne Desjardins) Whalen of Natick passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice House in Wayland. She was ninety-seven years old.

Born in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada in 1917, she came to the United States in 1938 at the age of twenty-two.

Mrs. Whalen was a devoted wife of the late James M. Whalen and together they made their home in Natick. She was a Natick resident for seventy years and enjoyed being a homemaker, traveling and gardening.

Marian volunteered at the Leonard Morse Hospital where she delivered the patients mail and flowers for over twenty-six years. She received her four thousand hour pin for her volunteer work and retired in 1985.

She was a loving mother of Linda Leccacorvi and her husband Nino of Rochester, NH, Janet Whalen of Wrentham and Sheila Whalen of Natick.

Cherished grandmother of Lisa Emrich and her husband Jeffrey of E. Rochester, NH and Matthew Leccacorvi of Rochester, NH. Great grandmother of Jackson Emrich. Sister of Therese Hudson of Salem, MA and the late Bertha, Joseph, Gerard, Louise, Irene, Benoit, Pius, Alphe and Edward.

Marian’s funeral will be held from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Wednesday, April 1st at 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.

Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.

Visiting hours in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 31st from 4:00-7:00PM.
